Kenwood
Working in a close-knit, highly skilled team I worked to bring a brand new step change kitchen machine to production.
The product, incorporating a switched reluctance motor, was capable of the widest variety of kitchen applications. From quiet blending to long duration kneading, chopping hard vegetables, to slicing delicate fruits.
The work involved extensive travel to Kenwood's China operations to ensure the product met Kenwood's exacting quality standards.
The project was mothballed before launch due to a change in commercial direction. However, key design learnings were carried forward and applied across other products in the Kenwood portfolio.
Whilst here I worked on areas from stress-strain analysis of blender blades, to the design of a complex kitchen base unit. I had the opportunity to present motor noise analysis to our Taiwanese manufacturers as well creation of new ideas to solve problems around the kitchen.
